We are Ireland’s Environmental Education and Youth Organisation that works to conserve the environment and empower young people. Our mission is to protect the natural environment and empower young people by developing their knowledge, skills, and confidence that channels their passion into positive and creative actions that help create a sustainable planet.
ECO-UNESCO’s Young Environmentalist Awards (YEA) is an all-Ireland environmental awards programme that recognises and rewards young people who raise environmental awareness and improve the environment through action projects. It is a fun and exciting way to empower young people to become better citizens, to build awareness of environmental issues in the community and promote local actions and lifestyle changes to conserve the environment. Over 49,000 young people have taken part in the YEA since it began in 1999, bringing about lasting change to the environment, and reaching countless others with awareness-raising campaigns in schools and communities throughout Ireland. The 6 Steps to Success course is a useful guide to creating an action project, and we encourage you to enter your project in the YEA!
Following the 6 Steps to Success is a great way to get started on your YEA project, or your other environmental action projects!
Before we get started, here’s a little information on how to work your way through this course!
Click on the next lesson to view its content and learn about that YEA Step to Success. Each lesson has one or more short quizzes – don’t worry, they’re less like tests and more like activities to practise what you’ve learnt, and to reassure yourself you know how to follow the 6 Steps to Success! This will help you become confident in making an amazing YEA project.
You earn points with every quiz! Complete the quizzes at the end of every lesson, then click “Mark Complete” to finish the lesson and move on to the next one. You will be able to track your progress in the progress bar at the top of the page.
Now that we’ve covered the basics, let’s begin! Mark the lesson as complete and start with “Step 1 – Getting a Team Together”.
