About this Workshop

This workshop identifies the impact of waste on our planet, from climate change to pollution, and gives you the skills to create solutions to tackle the root causes of waste in our everyday lives. Debate common questions like, “Is it possible to live a zero-waste lifestyle?”, identify common sources of waste, and explore the concept of a ‘circular economy’.

Why do this workshop?

Wondering how to reduce waste at home, in your school or in your community? This workshop will equip you with the knowledge you need to tackle waste in our everyday lives for a healthier planet.

By the end of the workshop, you will be able to: 

  • Identify the links between waste, climate change and sustainable development.
  • Understand the sources, issues, and solutions around food, water, and energy waste.
  • Describe and compare initiatives and solutions to reduce waste.
  • Design actions we can take to reduce waste.

Pre-Workshop Information

The session will run for approximately 90 minutes and this includes time for you and your participants to complete activities and topic discussions. We have provided guideline times for activities, however please feel free to spend whatever time you feel is appropriate to ensure your participants gain the most from the activities. Instructions and printable materials for the activities are provided in the first lesson of this course; you are invited to view these before you intend to start the workshop. You’ll also receive helpful follow-on resources for post-workshop environmental action!
