About this Workshop
All life on Earth is sustained by vital systems which are in delicate balance. However, humans are destabilizing these Earth processes, endangering life on this planet. In this workshop, you’ll learn about what is causing climate change and how we can take action as individuals and communities to combat climate change.
Why do this workshop?
If you want to take climate action and don’t know where to start, then this is the workshop for you! We’ll give you tips on what we can all do to make a positive change for our planet.
By the end of the workshop, you will be able to:
- Define and explain the differences between climate, weather, greenhouse gases & the greenhouse effect.
- Examine the various causes of climate change.
- Identify the impact of climate change on people and the planet and discuss the reasons why we need to act.
- Critique the climate action movement in Ireland and abroad and explore how we can make a difference as individuals and communities.

Pre-Workshop Information
The session will run for approximately 90 minutes and this includes time for you and your participants to complete activities and topic discussions. We have provided guideline times for activities, however please feel free to spend whatever time you feel is appropriate to ensure your participants gain the most from the activities. Instructions and printable materials for the activities are provided in the first lesson of this course; you are invited to view these before you intend to start the workshop. You’ll also receive helpful follow-on resources for post-workshop environmental action!
